CeRq: "My individual game is still going down, I don't know what's happening"

After NRG eliminated Liquid, we shortly spoke to Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov to ask him about the team's journey at ECS Season 6 Finals and his individual form as of late.

Having lost to Ninjas in Pyjamas on Nuke, the North American side clashed with Liquid in the elimination match and took down their rivals after coming back from a 5-12 deficit on Mirage, with Overpass going their way convincingly to finish off the series 2-0.

CeRq commented on his individual form in the last few months

We got a hold of CeRq ahead of the team's deciding match against North to ask him about the two matches and his individual form, which has been fluctuating since August.

Let's start off with your loss to NiP, it didn't really look like you had much of a chance on Nuke in the opener, what happened?

In my opinion, it was the first game, no one was warmed up for it. We just had cold hands and that's how it felt at the start of Mirage, as well, but, thankfully, we brought it back in time.

So, how did you come back from a 5-12 deficit on Mirage against Liquid?

As I said, it just felt like we weren't warmed up, a little bit of pressure, shaky hands, stuff like that. It just went away, I guess, I don't know, we just started playing our game and it worked out, so I'm happy.

I don't think anyone in the team stopped believing. In our team, we don't stop believing until it's 16 for the other team. I don't think it was a matter of a round, I think we just came into the game and played it until the end.

On Overpass, it looked like you caught them off-guard with some turnarounds and from there on it looked firmly in your hands, what were the keys to the win?

I didn't feel like we caught them off-guard, it felt like they caught us off-guard because they were pushing A a lot and, most of the time, we didn't even know they were pushing it and they were flanking us. We've practiced a lot versus them lately, the previous week, we've just been practicing against them and MIBR mostly, so I don't think they were caught off-guard.

What do you make of your chances against North for the playoffs spot?

I just hope we're not tired because we woke up at like 7 AM and the match is at 6 PM, as long as we're not tired and we play like we did versus Liquid, then we're confident.

You personally had a period where your form went down quite a bit after your win in Shanghai and lately you've brought it back, what was that about?

My individual game? Oh, it's still going down. I don't know what's happening, I'm just playing badly and I have low confidence and stuff like that. I've been working on my individual game a lot and trying to do as few mistakes as possible and help my team since I'm not at the level where I was. I'm just playing more and, hopefully, I'll come back fast because the Minor is coming up.

What do you think the lack of confidence stems from?

It's just when you play bad at a couple of tournaments, your confidence goes down. It's normal, I guess, I just hope I pick it up so I can start going back to old NRG. I hope I come back.
